Jetstar is changing its carry-on baggage rules from 2 February 2027.
What’s changing?
Every fare includes one small carry-on item that must fit under the seat in front of you. The maximum size is 40 × 30 × 20 cm. This could be a small backpack, handbag or laptop bag.
Need more space? You can purchase Priority Carry-on, which allows you to bring an additional larger carry-on bag measuring up to 56 × 36 × 23 cm. It also includes priority boarding.
The 7kg weight limit will be removed. However, each individual carry-on item must still weigh no more than 10kg, and passengers must be able to lift and handle their own bags.
Travelling with an infant? From February 2027, an additional underseat bag for baby items will be allowed at no extra cost.
Already have a Jetstar booking?
If you already have a booking for a Jetstar Airways (JQ) flight departing from 2 February 2027 onwards, you will automatically receive Priority Carry-on at no extra cost.
Flights departing before 2 February 2027 will continue to follow the current carry-on baggage rules.
There are no changes to checked baggage allowances, which can still be purchased up to 40kg per passenger.
The new carry-on rules apply to Jetstar Airways (JQ) flights, excluding group bookings of 10 or more passengers. They do not apply to Jetstar Japan (GK) operated flights.
