Wifi on Cruises

More and more people want to post pictures and videos on social media and impress their friends on various messaging apps while on a cruise.

That`s why it is good to know which cruise lines offer Wifi on their ships and which packages are available. Prices of the Wifi packages are not included in this overview, as they can change frequently, be already included in the cruise price or even be different in different itineraries of the same cruise line.

AmaWaterways

All European river cruises have unlimited Wifi included in the price. In Vietnam and Cambodia, Wifi is only available in the cabin. Africa also offers free Wifi but it can be quite intermittent.

American Cruise lines

Wifi is included on all the cruise itineraries.

Azamara

There are three packages available:

• 60 minutes package
• One day pass (for 24 hours)
• Unlimited Wifi package

Each plan can only be used on one device at a time and does not support Skype, VoIP, VPN connections and other data invasive programs.

Carnival Cruise Line

There are three packages available:

• Social Wifi – provides access to the most popular social media websites and apps, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Messenger, WhatsApp, Snapchat and many airline websites.
• Value Wifi – provides access to all of the above plus email, news, entertainment (except streaming sites), sports, weather and banking and financial websites.
• Premium Wifi – provides access to all of the above with the fastest connection available (three times faster than the Value package). In addition, the Premium Wifi package supports applications such as Zoom, Skype and others.

Please note: None of Carnival Cruise Line´s three Wifi packages support video or music streaming (Hulu, Spotify, Pandora), except for Netflix, which is supported by the Premium package. Each plan can only be used on one device at a time and does not support Skype, VoIP or VPN connections. It is possible to save on the price if you buy the Wifi package before the start of the cruise.

Celebrity Cruises

There are two packages available: Basic and Premium. Basic package is included in the Celebrity all inclusive package.

• Basic – browse the web, send email and messages to family and friends through select applications. Does not support sending large files via email, sharing photos or videos on social media, using streaming apps or making video calls.
• Premium – all of the above + messaging and video chatting, sending large files, posting to social media and streaming videos, movies, TV shows and music. You can save on the price if you buy a Wifi package before the start of the cruise. Galapagos expeditions cruise, Wifi only spreads in public areas.

Cunard

There are two packages available:

• Essential Plan – browse the web, read emails, music streaming and social media. Available as a 24 hours package or all trip package.
• Premium plan – All of the above + video streaming and higher connection speeds. Available as a 24 hours package or all trip package.

Packages can be purchased for one to four devices.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney internet packages are called Connect@Sea, with four options available:

• Stay Connected – the smallest package is suitable for those who intend to send an email or two, surf social media (but not upload any photos), and do similar activities that require a small amount of internet data.
• Basic Surf – passengers can stay in touch with family and friends via social media, including uploading photos, reading and sending emails, and performing other basic online activities.
• Premium Surf – the largest package for convenient internet use.
• 24-hour packages – All of the above packages can be purchased for the entire cruise or for 24-hour period.

Holland America Line

There are three packages available:

• Social – cruise passengers can keep up to date with their social media and send messages to family and friends (audio and video files are not supported).’
• Surf – all of the above plus the ability to read news, view and send some emails, keep up with sports applications and other similar activities.
• Premium – all of the above + the possibility of making audio and video calls in WhatsApp, FaceTime and other applications.

MSC Cruises

There are two packages available:

• Browse – this option gives cruise passengers unlimited access to social media apps (including voice and messaging apps), email and websites. Does not support video or music streaming.
• Browse and stream – suitable for those who want to be completely online, offering unlimited data for websites, social media and messaging apps, and streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and others.

Packages can be purchased per device. Adding additional equipment to the package is possible for an additional fee.

Norwegian Cruise Line

There are two packages available (for one, two and four devices). Passengers can also use free Wifi minutes, which are included in the price of the Free at Sea ticket package.

• Unlimited Standard Access – browse web, read emails and use social media and messaging apps. Does not support video or audio streaming.
• Unlimited Premium Access – All of the above plus VPN features and video/audio streaming on most popular apps including Netflix, Youtube, Amazon Prime, Hulu and more.

It is possible to buy the desired package cheaper if you buy it before the cruise. Discounts are also available for higher level Latitudes loyalty members.

Oceania Cruises

Unlimited Wavenet Wifi is included in all of the Ocean Cruises itineraries but it does not include access to streaming platforms (aka Wavenet Prime). One access per suite is provided, which can be used on one device at a time, unless you are booked on a cruise in a higher suite category where free Wavenet Wifi applies to both passengers. To use the streaming platform, passengers can purchase the Wavenet Prime internet package for an additional fee.

Princess Cruises

The Medallion Net internet package offers premium unlimited Wifi for any type of online activity at an additional cost. For passengers who choose a Princess Plus or Princess Premier cruise ticket, the Wifi package is included.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Unlimited Wifi is included in all of the Regent Seven Seas Cruises itineraries, but it does not include access to data-intensive packages such as Skype, Netflix, Youtube and VPN. One access per suire is provided, which can be used in one device at a time.
Seven Society Gold and above members and passengers staying in Concierge Suites and higher quality suites receive up to four logins/settings per suite.

It is also possible to pay a daily fee to upgrade to an unlimited Wifi package that also supports streaming.

Royal Caribbean International

Two packages are available for up to four devices.

• Voom Surf – is suitable for travellers who only want to check their email, exchange text messages in messaging apps and browse the web.
• Voom Surf+Stream Royal Caribbean Premium Wifi lets you do all of the above, plus video chat, post photos and videos on social media, watch videos, listen to music and more.

Seabourn

All passengers cruise packages include a Surf Wifi package that can be used on one device at a time with unlimited access to general web browsing, email and social media.
Passengers booked in the Penthouse and Premium Suite categories and Seabourn Club members who have reached Diamond or higher customer status will receive the Stream Wifi package with additional features. Other passengers travelling in Ocean View and Veranda Suites can purchase a Stream Wifi package for an additional charge that can be used with up to four devices per guest. It also allows you to watch videos online, use VoIP and VPN.

Silversea Cruises

Vista and Veranda suites include unlimited Standard internet. Medallion, Royal, Silver, Grand and Owners suites include Premium internet.

Internet options on Silversea expedition cruises depend on the specific ship. For example, Silver origin ships have an unlimited Standard Wifi package already included in the price, but a paid package is also available. Ask our consultants for more information.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruises

Free Wifi is available for all the passengers.

Virgin Voyages

All passengers have access to unlimited Wifi to use social media, email, web browsing and messaging applications. In the Caribbean, passengers can upgrade to the Premium package, which supports streaming, VPN and other high data activities, for an additional fee. A similar opportunity for European Cruises is coming in late 2023. Each visitor can connect up to two devices at a time.

Viking

Free Wifi is available on all cruises, except Mekong River Cruises.

Windstar Cruises

There are three plans available based on data usage rather than time.

• Email plan – this includes 200MB of data. It is recommended for customers who check email and do very little browsing. According to Windstar, this package lasts 15-60 minutes for a typical internet user.
• Surfing Plan – this plan offers 500MB of data. It is recommended for customers who check email and read news. It is also possible to post a limited number of photos to social media. According to Windstar, this plan will last 90-360 minutes for a typical user.
• Unlimited plan – as the name suggests, this plan offers unlimited data and is price based on the length of the cruise.

All packages allow you to use one device at a time.
